It’s a triple header in East Longmeadow this Fourth of July weekend with a carnival, fireworks and a good old-fashioned Independence Day parade set to dazzle those looking to celebrate all that is good about America from freedom to apple pie.
The patriotic good times begin on Thursday, June 30, at Veterans Memorial Field where the East Longmeadow Jaycees will kick off their annual four-day carnival with music, food, amusement rides and more.
“It’s a tradition along with the Fourth of July,” said Maureen Basile, coordinator for the East Longmeadow Jaycees, about their annual carnival. “Celebrating the Fourth of July is so big with fireworks and a parade and the town really comes together and explodes with community sprit. It’s like a giant homecoming.”
Carnival rides – provided by R.W. Commerford & Sons – will include a mix of kiddie and adult attractions including a merry-go-round, kid’s roller coaster, giant slide, scrambler and more.
